With the new SCHADS changes, would the system be able to pick up staff that has a broken shift?

Please read the below notes and let us know if you need any clarifications.

Condition 1: Workers to be paid for broken shifts:

We want entire to be able to recognise if a staff member is going to fall into these categories

Step 1: One-time Configuration - Setup the Expertise “Broken shift Allowance” & Rate combination under Service Rate tables

  • Setup an Expertise “Broken Shift Allowance” using Expertise Master.

  • In the Finance module, set up a pay & charge rate in Schads clients rate table for all combinations you booked in a shift. For Example: DSW + Broken Shift Allowance.

Step 2: On a weekly basis before a payroll run, you will need to extract a report including employee shift hours per day to find out the members eligible for the Broken shifts.

  • Go to Reports → Employee Shift Hours Report: After data extraction into Excel, you can apply the excel feature Sub Totals function to group the data per employee & date to find out the sum of hours worked per day per member. Please see an example below:

For example:

Step 3: In the Finance Confirm shift screen, Apply the Expertise “Broken shift allowance” rate as per 1.7% per hour set in the Rate Tables by changing the Expertise of a shift to “Broken Shift Allowance”. The system will pick up the pay /charge rate as per DSW + Broken Shift Allowance hourly rate.

Future Option: We have a development roadmap plan for enhancing various changes in the Fairwork Awards across multiple industries that would be available for our clients in Feb 2023. The automation around identifying the members eligible for broken shifts will also be a part of this enhancement. Till then, you will need to find members via the above report.
