Schads - Broken Shifts
Introduction
A broken shift is the best way to keep expenses low and get control of your overhead. Different type of allowances are introduced for each scenario of the broken shifts. Employees working for:
A two-period broken shift must be paid at 1.7% of the standard rate.
A three-period broken shift must be paid at 2.25% of the standard rate.
Changes in Broken shifts in the Social & Community Services Award are implemented from 1st July 2022.
How are Workers Paid for Broken Shifts?
Step 1
This is a one-time configuration. Setup the Expertise “Broken Shift Allowance” & Rate Combination under Service Rate tables
Set up an Expertise for “Broken Shift Allowance” using Expertise Master.
To set up expertise, Click Masters → Member Master → Expertise (as shown in the below screenshot)
Click Add New Expertise and fill in the required information. Click the green tick to save the details (as shown in the below screenshot)
2. In the Finance module, you have to set up a pay & charge rate in Schad client's rate table for all combinations you booked in a shift.
Step 2
On a weekly basis before a payroll run, you will need to extract a report including employee shift hours per day to find out the members eligible for the Broken shifts.
Go to Reports → Employee Shift Hours Report: After data extraction into Excel, you can apply the excel feature Sub Totals function to group the data per employee & date to find out the sum of hours worked per day per member.
Sharing an example:
Step 3: In the Finance Confirm shift screen, apply the Expertise “Broken shift allowance” rate as per 1.7% per hour set in the Rate Tables by changing the Expertise of a shift to “Broken Shift Allowance”. The system will pick up the pay /charge rate as per the qualification and shift type hourly rate.
