Clearing Cache

In short, a Cache is like the short term memory of an internet browser.

Every internet browser is actually a program that uses the information you search to be more efficient and faster for you.

Entire OnHire leverages this power everywhere in the system, one of the most obvious places you will see it is the first time you open the "Quick Booking" pop up, on the Allocations Screen, shown below.  The very first time you open it may take 1 second to open, the second time about 0.5 seconds, the third about 0.2, the fourth time it's almost instant (eventually the speed will be maxed, but you get the point).

But why does it make things look weird or stop my software from working?

Good question, basically when we do any upgrade, the structure of the system changes, which means the browser suddenly cannot read the information as well as it could before. It's like a librarian that knows the location of every single book in her Library, especially the ones she loans out regularly (regular options you use in Entire OnHire) when one day someone goes and swaps every book with the one on the left or right of it.

The librarian wouldn't be able to find anything! Not to mention probably have a bit of a panic attack in the process of frantically trying to put things back in order.

The same is true of the computer program, which is why you need to basically hit the "reset button" - which is done by clearing the Cache of your browser.

If you're wondering how to pronounce it, there is no set agreement with all "cash",  "caysh", "kaysh" or even "cash-ay" being acceptable in the technical world.

How to clear Cache

A Cache is like the short term memory of an internet browser that stores web pages, images and multimedia from your browsing history to help load new page requests faster.

Due to how a Cache stores past data it is important that after every system version release you clear your Cache from "All Time". If not existing/new features within EntireHR will not work correctly as it is conflicting with old data.

To clear your Google Chrome Cache:

  1. Log out of EntireHR.

  2. Follow the instructions below depending on what type of computer you are using.

WINDOWS PC - Press CTRL + H

APPLE MAC - Press ⌘ + Shift + Delete

Click "Clear browsing data"

The below pop up screen will appear.

Check to make sure the time range is set to "All Time". If not click the drop-down and select "All time".

Ensure the last option "Cached Images and Files" is ticked and then select Clear Data.

Please note: if this does not resolve the issue please tick ALL the options (even your saved passwords), and then clear browsing data. Please contact us if you have followed this troubleshooting and are still experiencing issues.
An enormous amount of testing takes place before every upgrade. However when going live into a new environment there's always a chance something will pop up after a big change. If you do find something unusual, please contact us using the "Submit a Request" link at the top right of this page.
